The brief: carry a 2 kg payload at least 3 metres using only the energy in a spring. Ours delivered 47 N fully compressed.
Every assembly was designed in SolidWorks and the key parts machined on a lathe and mill. Tuning on the spot during testing paid off: it was the only cart to reach the finish line in all three official runs.
